- 1 pound spaghetti
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 4 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the spaghetti until al dente according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- Brown the Italian sausage over medium heat in a skillet and drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Mix the cooked spaghetti, ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
- Layer half of the spaghetti mixture in a baking dish, followed by half of the sausage mixture, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Repeat this layering.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving, if desired.
Notes
This recipe can be prepared a day in advance. Just refrigerate before baking. Consider using turkey sausage for a leaner option or plant-based sausage for a vegetarian twist.
