  • Total Time: 180 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A simple yet satisfying recipe for delicious homemade focaccia, characterized by its soft texture and olive oil-drenched surface.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon of yeast
  • 1/2 cup of warm water
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh rosemary (or dried, if necessary)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine yeast and water: In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix ingredients: Add the bread flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form.
  3. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 120 minutes or until it doubles in size.
  5. Preheat oven: During the last 10 minutes of rising, preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Shape the dough: Once risen, transfer the dough to a greased baking sheet. Gently stretch it into a rectangular shape.
  7. Dimple and top: Create dimples in the surface using your fingers. Drizzle olive oil over the top and sprinkle fresh rosemary.
  8. Final rise: Allow the dough to rest for another 30 minutes before baking.
  9. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool and serve: Once done, let it cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy the aromatic delight!

Notes

Focaccia is versatile and can be served warm with balsamic vinegar and olive oil or incorporated into sandwiches. To keep it fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature or freeze slices for later use.
