Description

An irresistible, fluffy bread perfect for sandwiches or serving warm at meals, made with simple pantry staples.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • 2¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • Melted butter for brushing (optional)
  • Sesame seeds for topping (optional)
  • Flaky salt for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl.
  2. Stir in warm water, milk, and softened butter until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise again for 30-40 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes, or until golden and hollow sounding.
  7. Brush with melted butter and optionally sprinkle with sesame seeds or flaky salt. Allow to cool before slicing.

Notes

Kneading on a lightly floured surface is recommended. Allow bread to cool completely before slicing for best texture.
