Description

A comforting dessert that transforms stale bread into a heavenly dish, perfect for sharing.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of stale French bread
  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup of raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of bourbon or rum (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Tear the stale bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  4. Pour this creamy mixture over the bread and allow it to soak for about 15 minutes.
  5. If you wish to add some texture, toss in raisins at this point.
  6. Grease a baking dish with butter and pour your bread mixture into it.
  7. Bake the pudding for 45-50 minutes until it’s set and golden brown on top.
  8. Serve warm, drizzled with your choice of bourbon or rum sauce.
