Description

A delightful sweet bread with layers of cinnamon and sugary goodness, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • ½ cup softened salted butter
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon sugar mix)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF and grease a 9×5 loaf pan with butter or oil.
  2. Add the softened butter to a large bowl. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer with a paddle attachment, beat it until creamy.
  3. Mix in the granulated and brown sugars on medium-high speed until fluffy—about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk, mixing until well combined.
  5. Sift the flour and baking soda into the mixture, gently folding until no large lumps remain.
  6. Mix ⅓ cup sugar with 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon in a separate bowl; set aside.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter, and use a knife to swirl it in.
  8. Add the remaining batter on top, smoothing it out, and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top. Swirl it in slightly with the knife.
  9. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of melted butter over the top.
  10. Bake for 50–70 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean when inserted.
  11. Let it cool for 20 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or cream cheese. Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored for up to 3 days at room temperature.
