Description

Delightful heart-shaped cookies filled with your choice of jam, perfect for special occasions or a sweet treat any day.


Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg (or flax mixture for a vegan version)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup jam of choice (strawberry, raspberry, or apricot)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Using an electric mixer, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar on high speed until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on your prepared baking sheet, spacing them 1½ inches apart.
  6. Make a heart-shaped indentation in the center of each ball by gently pressing your thumb or the back of a teaspoon twice.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. If any indentations have filled in, reshape them while still warm.
  9. Once cooled, add a small dollop of your chosen jam into each heart-shaped center.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer freshness, freeze them for about three months.
