A delightful chai tea concentrate that captures the rich, warming flavors of classic chai, perfect for hot or iced drinks.
Ingredients

- 4 cups water
- 4 tablespoons loose black tea or 8 black tea bags
- 1 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 2–3 cinnamon sticks
- 5–6 green cardamom pods, crushed
- 5–6 cloves
- 1–2 slices of fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Bring the water to a boil in a large pot.
- Add the loose black tea, sugar, cinnamon sticks, crushed cardamom pods, cloves, and fresh ginger.
- Lower the heat to a simmer and let the mixture cook for 15-20 minutes.
- Remove the pot from heat and strain the mixture into a pitcher, discarding the solids.
- Let the chai concentrate cool, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract if desired.
- Store in the refrigerator for later use.
Notes
For best results, use fresh spices and adjust sweetness early. Experiment with different tea types and flavors.
