A comforting dish of sweet potatoes coated with a rich brown-sugar cinnamon glaze, perfect for gatherings and special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium sweet potatoes
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into even slices or cubes.
- In a bowl, combine brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt to create the glaze.
- Add the sweet potatoes and toss to coat evenly.
- Transfer to a baking dish and pour the remaining glaze over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until tender and caramelized.
- Serve warm as a side dish.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a splash of orange juice or zest to the glaze. Slicing the sweet potatoes uniformly guarantees even cooking and caramelization.
