Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup active sourdough starter

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, water, salt, and sourdough starter. Stir until you achieve a shaggy dough.
  2. Cover the bowl and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Knead the dough in the bowl for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Shape the kneaded dough into a ball and transfer it to a floured bowl. Cover and let rise for 4-6 hours, until it has doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat thoroughly.
  6. Once the dough has risen, carefully remove the hot Dutch oven. Gently transfer the dough into the pot, cover with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
  8. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy!

Notes

Serve with butter, olive oil, or use for sandwiches. Store wrapped in parchment or a towel for freshness.
