Ingredients

- 2 1/4 tsp yeast
- 2 tbsp honey (or sugar)
- 1/4 cup water (warmed)
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 5 tbsp butter
- 1 egg
- 6 cups flour (plus additional for kneading)
- 2 cups milk
Instructions
- Combine the warm water with the yeast and honey. Let it sit until foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix the foamy yeast mixture, milk, butter, egg, salt, and 5 cups of flour.
- Mix until the dough starts to pull away from the sides, then gradually add more flour until the desired consistency is reached.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 7-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Shape into a ball, place in a bowl, cover, and let rise for about one hour.
- Divide the dough into two sections, flatten each, and roll tightly into logs.
- Place each log in a loaf pan to rise again for another hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
