Description

A simple yet transformative loaf of bread that’s soft, fluffy, and perfect for sandwiches or breakfast.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 tsp yeast
  • 2 tbsp honey (or sugar)
  • 1/4 cup water (warmed)
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg
  • 6 cups flour (plus additional for kneading)
  • 2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm water with the yeast and honey. Let it sit until foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the foamy yeast mixture, milk, butter, egg, salt, and 5 cups of flour.
  3. Mix until the dough starts to pull away from the sides, then gradually add more flour until the desired consistency is reached.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 7-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Shape into a ball, place in a bowl, cover, and let rise for about one hour.
  6. Divide the dough into two sections, flatten each, and roll tightly into logs.
  7. Place each log in a loaf pan to rise again for another hour.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze slices for longer storage.
