Slow Cooker Beef Manhattan

  • Total Time: 495 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Carnivore

Description

A warm and hearty dish featuring tender beef, creamy mashed potatoes, and savory gravy served over toasted bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 slices of bread, toasted
  • 2 cups brown gravy

Instructions

  1. Season the beef with salt and pepper. Heat a bit of oil in a pan and sear the beef on all sides for added flavor.
  2. In your slow cooker, combine the seared beef, garlic, onion, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 480 minutes or on high for 240 minutes, until the beef is fork-tender.
  4. Once the beef is done, shred it using two forks and return it to the soup pot to soak up more flavor.
  5. Meanwhile, boil your cubed potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash them with butter and a splash of milk.
  6. To serve, layer the toasted bread on a plate, top it with mashed potatoes, and generously spoon over the beef mixture along with rich brown gravy.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute beef with chicken and use vegetable broth for a vegetarian twist.
