Description

A delightful, smooth, and creamy custard dessert that evokes memories of family gatherings and is incredibly easy to make.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Gradually stir in the milk.
  4. Pour the mixture into a baking dish and sprinkle nutmeg on top if desired.
  5. Place the baking dish in a larger pan filled with water (water bath).
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or chilled, garnished with whipped cream or berries if desired. This custard can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
