Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Carefully fold in the caramel chips and chocolate chips (if using).
- Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Lightly sprinkle the tops with flaky sea salt before baking.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For an alternative, substitute caramel chips with chopped caramel candies. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
