Description
Soft and fluffy red velvet cinnamon rolls adorned with creamy frosting, perfect for Valentine’s Day celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk (for frosting)
- Red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, yeast, and salt. Blend well.
- In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl and cover it. Let it rise in a warm spot for one hour.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and spread a layer of softened cream cheese over it.
- Carefully roll the dough tightly and slice it into rounds.
- Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until they’re puffed and slightly gooey on the inside.
- For the frosting, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth. If desired, add red food coloring to enhance that festive touch.
- Allow the rolls to cool, then generously frost them before serving.
