Red Velvet Truffles

  • Total Time: 120 minutes
  • Yield: 24 truffles 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Delightful bite-sized Red Velvet Truffles with a rich cream cheese filling, perfect for parties or as a holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Red Velvet Cake Mix (plus ingredients as required: water, oil, and eggs)
  • 10 oz Cream Cheese, softened
  • 12 oz Almond Bark or white chocolate candy melts
  • Festive sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bake the Cake: Follow the instructions on your red velvet cake mix box, baking in a 9×13 pan. Once done, let it cool completely.
  2. Prepare the Cake: Once cooled, discard the crispy edges and crumble the cake into small pieces in a large bowl.
  3. Mix the Filling: Add the softened cream cheese to the crumbled cake. Mix well with your hands until it forms a dough-like consistency.
  4. Shape the Truffles: Portion the mixture into balls, about 2 tablespoons each, and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Chill: Freeze the truffles for about 30 minutes or until they’re firm.
  6. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth and creamy.
  7. Dip and Decorate: Remove the truffles from the freezer. Dip each ball into the melted chocolate, tapping off any excess. Return them to the baking sheet and drizzle with more chocolate and add sprinkles if desired.
  8. Set: Place them in the freezer for a few minutes to let the chocolate harden or allow them to set at room temperature.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
