Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for chocolate topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine water and butter. Bring to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, remove from heat. Stir in flour and salt until a smooth ball forms.
  4. Gradually beat in eggs, one at a time, ensuring the mixture is smooth before adding the next.
  5. Drop tablespoonfuls of the dough onto a greased baking sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
  7. Allow the pastries to cool completely.
  8. While cooling, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  9. Slice the tops off the cooled profiteroles and fill each with the whipped cream.
  10. For the chocolate topping, melt the chocolate chips with the additional cream until smooth.
  11. Drizzle the chocolate glaze over the filled profiteroles and serve immediately.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, use plant-based butter and whipped coconut cream. Feel free to experiment with flavored extracts in the whipped cream.
