Description

A quick and easy weeknight meal that combines crunchy pretzel coating with juicy chicken, all topped with a creamy mustard-cheddar sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Dip the chicken breasts into the buttermilk, ensuring they are well-coated.
  3. In a bowl, mix crushed pretzels, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Press the buttermilk-coated chicken into the pretzel mixture, ensuring a solid coat.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the chicken on each side for about 3-4 minutes until golden.
  6. Transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
  7. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine cheddar cheese and mustard until melted.
  8. Drizzle the sauce over the baked chicken and serve hot.

Notes

For extra crunch, try double-dipping the chicken in buttermilk and then the pretzel mixture. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
