A delightful casserole combining ground beef, marinara sauce, and gooey cheese topped with crispy tater tots, perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Optional toppings: pepperoni, olives, bell pepper, green onions, mushrooms
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain excess fat from the skillet.
- Add marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; simmer for a few minutes.
- Spread the beef mixture in the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the beef mixture.
- Arrange frozen tater tots on top of the cheese and beef.
- Top with remaining 1 cup of cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until tater tots are golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
- Add additional toppings during the last 5 minutes of baking.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Store leftover casserole in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
