Description

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for filling)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for spreading)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk and yeast in a small bowl; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until well blended.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter on top. Sprinkle sugar-cinnamon filling evenly over the surface.
  8. Roll the dough tightly and slice it into 12 rolls. Place in a baking dish and pour heavy cream over them.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. While baking, mix icing ingredients for drizzling once the rolls are warm.

For fluffier rolls, ensure your yeast is fresh and knead the dough thoroughly.
