Description

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (any variety)
  • 1 pound of sausage (breakfast sausage)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 2 cups of shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or your favorite)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease a large baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Tear the loaf of bread into pieces and distribute evenly in the dish.
  3. In a skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat. Drain any excess fat and distribute it over the bread.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, mustard powder, and garlic powder (if using).
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and sausage layers.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  7. Cover the casserole with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) the next morning. Bake the casserole for about 45 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  9. Let it cool slightly before cutting into portions and serving.

Notes
