Description
A rich and creamy pasta dish featuring five different cheeses, baked until bubbly and golden.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ziti pasta
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs (for the topping)
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 15 oz drained diced tomatoes (or two fresh tomatoes, diced)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese blend (grated parmesan, Romano, Asiago)
- 1/2 cup fontina cheese (can use grated Monterey Jack)
- 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese (grated)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the ziti pasta and cook according to package instructions until it’s al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Drain and do not rinse.
- In a large bowl, mix the marinara sauce, heavy cream, diced tomatoes, and sugar until well combined.
- Add the cooked ziti to the sauce mixture and ensure the pasta is evenly coated.
- Mix in the Parmesan, fontina, and mozzarella cheeses (reserve some mozzarella for topping). Stir gently to combine.
- Pour the cheesy ziti mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Top with reserved mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with bread crumbs.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
