Description

A classic comfort food featuring tender beef simmered with vibrant vegetables in a savory tomato-based sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds round steak
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (or a gluten-free substitute)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cups diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Cut the round steak into serving pieces and season generously with salt and pepper, then dredge in flour.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat and brown the steak pieces for 4-5 minutes on both sides.
  3. Remove the steak and add chopped onions and bell peppers to the skillet, cooking for about 5 minutes until soft.
  4. Return the steak to the skillet and add diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and paprika, stirring to combine.
  5. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, until fork-tender.
  6. Serve hot with your desired sides.

Notes

For additional flavor, consider adding a splash of red wine or a dash of crushed red pepper. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3-4 days or frozen for longer storage.
