- 2 pounds round steak
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (or a gluten-free substitute)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cups diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Cut the round steak into serving pieces and season generously with salt and pepper, then dredge in flour.
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat and brown the steak pieces for 4-5 minutes on both sides.
- Remove the steak and add chopped onions and bell peppers to the skillet, cooking for about 5 minutes until soft.
- Return the steak to the skillet and add diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and paprika, stirring to combine.
- Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, until fork-tender.
- Serve hot with your desired sides.
Notes
For additional flavor, consider adding a splash of red wine or a dash of crushed red pepper. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3-4 days or frozen for longer storage.
