Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool, cut into bars, and enjoy!
