Description
A delightful flatbread from Turkish cuisine, made with just three simple ingredients and cooked on the stovetop.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500 g Bread flour (about 4 cups)
- 160 ml Warm milk (approximately 2/3 cup)
- 160 ml Warm water (approximately 2/3 cup)
- 10 g Instant dry yeast (around 1.5 tbsp)
- 10 g Sugar (roughly 1 tbsp)
- 8 g Salt (about 0.8 tbsp)
- 20 g Melted unsalted butter (or olive oil)
- Chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- In a container, mix warm milk, warm water, sugar, and instant dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to activate the yeast.
- Add bread flour and salt to the yeast mixture and combine to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and no longer sticky.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it proof in a warm place until it doubles in size (about 1 hour).
- Divide the dough into 6 pieces and shape each into a ball. Cover to prevent drying.
- Roll each piece into a circle, about 18 cm in diameter and 5 mm thick.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and cook each round, flipping when puffed up and bubbly (about 2-3 minutes per side).
- Reduce heat to low, cover with a cloth, and keep warm while cooking the rest.
- Brush with melted butter or olive oil and enjoy!
