Description

A simple no-knead bread recipe that yields a crusty, artisanal loaf with minimal effort.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast.
  2. Pour in the warm water and stir with a wooden spoon until well combined; the dough should be sticky.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let it rise at room temperature for 3-4 hours or in the fridge for up to 15 hours.
  4. Dust your work surface with flour, scoop the dough onto the surface, and shape it into a ball.
  5. Place the dough ball on parchment paper, cover lightly, and let it rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 450°F with an empty dutch oven inside.
  7. Remove the cover from the dough and lift the parchment paper with the dough into the preheated dutch oven.
  8. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the bread to cool on a wire rack.

Notes

Serve with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, soups, or salads. Store in an open paper bag for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
