Milk and Honey Bread

  • Total Time: 120 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A soft and slightly sweet loaf that is perfect for family brunches or as a delightful addition to any dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in a cup of warm milk and stir in the honey until combined.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough begins to form.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and allow it to rise until it has doubled in size (about 60-90 minutes).
  6. Once risen, shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the bread for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Notes

This bread goes well with butter, cream cheese, or used in gourmet sandwiches. For longer storage, slice the loaf and freeze the pieces.
