Description

Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce to the meat mixture; let it simmer for 10 minutes to meld the flavors.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until fully blended.
  6. In a baking dish, spread a layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place three lasagna noodles on top.
  7. Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Repeat these layers two more times.
  8. Finish with a top layer of meat sauce and mozzarella, and sprinkle Parmesan cheese generously over the top layer.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and has a beautiful golden color.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh basil, and serve.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute ground meats with turkey or plant-based alternatives. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days, or freeze for later use.
