Ingredients
Scale
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 4 cups marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the marinara sauce to the meat mixture; let it simmer for 10 minutes to meld the flavors.
- In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until fully blended.
- In a baking dish, spread a layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place three lasagna noodles on top.
- Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Repeat these layers two more times.
- Finish with a top layer of meat sauce and mozzarella, and sprinkle Parmesan cheese generously over the top layer.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and has a beautiful golden color.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh basil, and serve.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute ground meats with turkey or plant-based alternatives. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days, or freeze for later use.
