  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x
  • Diet: Low Carb, Keto

Description

A low-carb twist on a classic Philly cheesesteak packed into a hearty casserole, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 fat ratio preferred)
  • 1 large onion (diced)
  • 2 large bell peppers (green, red, or mixed, diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 8 oz provolone cheese (sliced)
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add diced onions and bell peppers to the skillet, cooking for 5-6 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds, being careful not to burn it.
  5. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 7-8 minutes until browned without any pink.
  6. If needed, drain excess fat from the meat.
  7. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, letting it coat the meat for a boost in flavor.
  8. Reduce the heat to low, then add the softened cream cheese. Mix until it’s melted and incorporated.
  9. Transfer the beef mixture to your prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  10. Layer torn provolone cheese pieces over the mixture, followed by the shredded mozzarella.
  11. Bake for 22-25 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  12. Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or pepper jack cheese. Use Greek yogurt for a tangy twist instead of cream cheese.
