Description

A hearty low-carb casserole that captures the flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak with ground beef and creamy cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (preferably 80/20 fat ratio)
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 large bell peppers (any color), diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the diced onions and bell peppers to the skillet, cooking for about 5-6 minutes until they soften and are fragrant.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  5. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper, cooking for about 7-8 minutes until fully browned.
  6. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and reduce heat to low.
  7. Mix in the softened cream cheese until fully melted.
  8. Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  9. Layer the torn provolone over the beef, then top with shredded mozzarella.
  10. Bake for 22-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden.
  11. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Best served with a side salad or cauliflower rice. Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days, or freeze for 2-3 months.
