Description

A delightful casserole that combines ground beef, crispy bacon, and creamy cheeses for a low-carb take on a classic cheeseburger.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon (cooked and crumbled)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tbsp sugar-free ketchup (optional)
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped pickles (optional topping)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and crumble into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
  2. Pour off most of the bacon grease, leaving 1 tablespoon in the skillet. Add ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook until browned and the onion is soft. Season with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Reduce heat and stir in softened cream cheese until melted. Mix crumbled bacon back into the skillet. Spread the mixture evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, yellow mustard, and optional ketchup. Stir in half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the beef layer in the baking dish. Top with remaining cheeses.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until set and golden on top.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with pickles or parsley if desired.

Notes

For a leaner option, feel free to use ground turkey or swap cheeses for your favorites.
