Layered Cheesy Italian Lasagna

Description

A classic Italian dish filled with layers of meats, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella in a rich marinara sauce.


Ingredients

  • 9 sheets Lasagna Noodles
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 pound Italian Sausage
  • 1 small Onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 24 ounces Marinara Sauce
  • 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • 4 cups Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and lay them flat on a towel.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
  4. Add ground beef and Italian sausage, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and parsley until smooth.
  7. To assemble: spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Lay three noodles over the sauce, spread half of the ricotta mixture, and sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella.
  8. Repeat layers: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta, and mozzarella.
  9. Finish with a final layer of noodles topped with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella.
  10. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  11. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Allow the lasagna to cool for a few minutes before cutting to help it hold its shape. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for up to three months.
