- 2 (15-ounce) containers of ricotta cheese
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 (15.25 ounce) box of chocolate or devil’s food cake mix
- 1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil
- 1 cup of water
- 3 large eggs
- 1 (5-ounce) box of instant chocolate pudding
- 3 cups cold milk
- 1 (8-ounce) container of whipped topping, thawed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and 4 eggs. Mix well until smooth.
- Pour the ricotta mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- In a separate bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, oil, water, and 3 eggs. Mix until just combined.
- Carefully pour the chocolate batter over the ricotta layer, spreading it gently.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
- While the cake cools, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding with 3 cups of cold milk until thickened.
- Once the cake is cool, spread the pudding over the top, followed by the thawed whipped topping.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
Serve cold for the best taste. Garnish with chocolate shavings or fresh berries for an elegant touch.
