- 1 lb (450 g) sausage, sliced (Italian or smoked)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) chicken broth
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Begin by boiling salted water and cook your pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
- Sauté the Sausage: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage, cooking until browned and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer the sausage to a plate and set aside.
- Make the Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and stir to combine. Pour in the chicken broth and let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened. If you like it spicy, add red pepper flakes here.
- Combine Everything: Add the browned sausage back into the skillet, simmer for 3-4 minutes to absorb the sauce’s flavors. Toss in the cooked pasta, mixing well. If the sauce feels too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water. Stir in the butter for extra creaminess.
- Season and Garnish: Taste the dish and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Turn off the heat, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan if desired.
Notes
This dish pairs well with a side salad or garlic bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
