Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups chicken or beef broth
  • 2 cups bow tie pasta
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
  2. Add the ground meat and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  4. Add the bow tie pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the ricotta cheese until well mixed.
  6. Serve hot, topped with shredded mozzarella cheese and fresh basil.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding chopped bell peppers or spinach along with the meat. Adjust seasonings to your taste.
