A creamy, nostalgic butterscotch pudding that’s easy to make from scratch, perfect for family gatherings or as a comforting dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based alternatives)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 5 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
Instructions
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the milk, butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Heat the mixture until it’s warm to the touch, but do not allow it to boil.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the cornstarch together with half the warm milk mixture until smooth.
- Return the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan and bring it back to heat.
- Once it’s almost boiling, reduce the heat and let it thicken for five minutes while whisking frequently.
- Pour it into a serving bowl and allow it to cool, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.
Notes
