Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. Gradually pour in the warm water while stirring, until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
  5. Once risen, gently deflate the dough and shape it into baguettes.
  6. Allow the shaped baguettes to rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  8. Transfer the baguettes to a baking sheet and make diagonal slashes on the tops.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown and crusty.
  10. Let cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For best flavor, use quality flour. Knead well to develop gluten structure.
