- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup coconut sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup almond milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Coconut oil spray for baking
- Additional cinnamon sugar for coating (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until combined.
- In another bowl, mix the applesauce, almond milk, and vanilla extract until well blended.
- Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Shape the dough into bite-sized balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Lightly spray the tops with coconut oil spray.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden on top.
- If desired, roll warm churro bites in a mixture of coconut sugar and cinnamon before serving.
Notes
These churro bites can be served warm with maple syrup or a dollop of yogurt. They can also be stored at room temperature for up to three days.
