Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Coconut oil spray for baking
  • Additional cinnamon sugar for coating (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the applesauce, almond milk, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  4. Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Shape the dough into bite-sized balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Lightly spray the tops with coconut oil spray.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden on top.
  8. If desired, roll warm churro bites in a mixture of coconut sugar and cinnamon before serving.

Notes

These churro bites can be served warm with maple syrup or a dollop of yogurt. They can also be stored at room temperature for up to three days.
