Description

Delicious, guilt-free churro bites with a cinnamon-sugar coating, made healthier by using whole wheat flour and air frying.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • Cooking spray
  • Extra cinnamon and sugar for coating

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Pour in the unsweetened applesauce and almond milk. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Shape the dough into small, bite-sized balls.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the dough balls in a single layer.
  6. Air fry for about 8-10 minutes, or until the churro bites turn golden brown.
  7. While they’re cooking, mix extra cinnamon and sugar in a bowl.
  8. Once done, remove the churro bites from the air fryer and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  9. Serve warm and savor the goodness!

Notes

These churro bites are best enjoyed warm and can be served with a side of your favorite dipping sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze them and reheat in the air fryer.
