Description

Transform sweet, fluffy Hawaiian rolls into a delightful French toast, perfect for lazy weekends or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12-pack) King’s Hawaiian Rolls
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup half-and-half or whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter (for cooking)
  • Powdered sugar, fresh fruit, and maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and half-and-half until smooth. Mix in the vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt to make the custard.
  2. Use a toothpick or skewer to poke holes in the bottom of each Hawaiian roll.
  3. Dip each roll into the custard mixture, soaking for about 30 seconds.
  4. In a nonstick skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-low heat, then place the soaked rolls in the skillet. Cook for 30 to 60 seconds per side until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve the warm rolls topped with powdered sugar, fresh berries, and maple syrup.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in a skillet or toaster.
