Description
A delicious twist on the classic sandwich featuring ground beef, melted provolone cheese, and caramelized onions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: sautéed bell peppers
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they soften and become slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned, approximately 8-10 minutes.
- Divide the mixture into four portions. On each portion, place a slice of provolone cheese, and cover the skillet for a minute to let the cheese melt.
- Toast the hoagie rolls until golden. Fill each roll with the beef and cheese mixture. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
Consider pairing with crispy fries or a light salad. For longer storage, wrap tightly and freeze.
