Description
A delicious twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak using ground beef for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or any cheese of your preference)
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sauté the sliced onions and bell peppers for 3-5 minutes until tender; add mushrooms if using, and cook for another 3 minutes.
- Push the veggies to one side and add the ground beef, breaking it apart and browning for 5-7 minutes until no longer pink.
- Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper; cook for another two minutes.
- Reduce heat to low, place a slice of cheese over the beef mixture, and cover with a lid. Let it melt for 2-3 minutes.
- While waiting, slice hoagie rolls lengthwise, keeping them intact at the bottom.
- Spoon the beef and veggie mix into each hoagie roll.
- Toast the rolls if desired and enjoy while hot!
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding jalapeños or different cheese types. Serve with fries or a salad.
