Description

A comforting classic featuring fresh green beans in a creamy mushroom sauce topped with crispy fried onions.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans (trimmed)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup fried onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Blanch the trimmed green beans in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. In a large baking dish, mix the blanched green beans with the soup mixture and half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Top the mixture with fried onions and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

Consider serving with roasted turkey or ham, and garnish with fresh parsley for a splash of color.
