Delightful and comforting German Cabbage Dumplings filled with a savory potato mixture.


Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cabbage
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup cooked potatoes, mashed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Boil the cabbage in salted water until tender, then remove the leaves and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté the onion until translucent.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the flour, eggs, salt, pepper, and mashed potatoes to form a dough.
  4. Take a cabbage leaf, place a spoonful of the dough mixture in the center, and fold the leaf around the filling.
  5. Repeat until all dough and leaves are used.
  6. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the dumplings for about 20-25 minutes.
  7. Serve warm with breadcrumbs sprinkled on top.

Notes

For best results, use fresh cabbage and good-quality potatoes. Adjust seasoning as needed.
