Ingredients

- 2 cups warm water
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil (plus extra for drizzling)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the warm water and active dry yeast; let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until combined into a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for a few minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and spread it out in a greased baking pan.
- Use your fingers to make dimples across the top of the dough.
- Brush melted garlic butter (minced garlic mixed with olive oil) over the surface, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and herbs if using.
- Allow it to rise again for about 20-30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Drizzle with extra olive oil before serving.
Notes
Store in an airtight container or wrap in plastic wrap. Freezing is also an option for longer storage.
