Description
A pillowy, soft focaccia bread infused with garlic and herbs, perfect as a side dish or a standalone treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
- ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tsp salt
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary or thyme, chopped
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Allow it to sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place until doubling in size, about 1 hour.
- Gently punch down the dough and move it to a greased baking sheet, stretching it into a rectangle shape.
- Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the dough, using fingertips to create dimples. Sprinkle the minced garlic and herbs on top.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
