Garlic Herb Focaccia

  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A pillowy, soft focaccia bread infused with garlic and herbs, perfect as a side dish or a standalone treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh rosemary or thyme, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Allow it to sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place until doubling in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Gently punch down the dough and move it to a greased baking sheet, stretching it into a rectangle shape.
  6. Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the dough, using fingertips to create dimples. Sprinkle the minced garlic and herbs on top.
  7. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze in slices for longer storage.
