Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1½ cups warm water (about 110°F)
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary or 1 tablespoon dried
- Coarse sea salt for topping
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture, stirring until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5–8 minutes on a floured surface until it is soft and elastic.
- Transfer the dough into an oiled bowl. Cover it and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and spread the risen dough evenly using your fingers.
- Cover the dough again and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Use your fingers to create dimples all over the dough. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with rosemary and coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until it’s golden brown.
- Cool slightly, cut into squares, and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For a chewier texture, substitute all-purpose flour for bread flour. Experiment with different toppings like olives, sun-dried tomatoes, or herbs.
