Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  3. Remove from heat and mix in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir until just combined; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
  5. If using, fold in chocolate chips for an extra chocolate punch.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
