A simple and rich homemade chocolate pudding that brings back nostalgic flavors, perfect for any dessert occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (35g) cornstarch
- 1/4 cup (20g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 & 1/4 cups (540mL) milk
- 2 tablespoons (30g) unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium-sized saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder, and salt until evenly mixed.
- Gradually pour in the milk, whisking well after each addition to prevent clumps from forming.
- Place the saucepan on a stovetop set to medium heat. Continuously whisk the mixture until it begins to boil and thickens, about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat, stir in the butter and vanilla extract until well blended.
- Transfer the pudding to a heat-safe bowl, cover with plastic wrap pressed against the surface, and allow it to cool.
Notes
Serve with whipped cream, fresh berries, or crushed cookies for added texture. Store in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days.
