- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the mashed bananas, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, folding gently until just combined.
- Fold in walnuts or chocolate chips if using.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled cookies before serving.
Notes
For the best flavor, use very ripe bananas. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
