Description
A delightful dish that bridges comfort food with gourmet dining, featuring crispy chicken coated in a sticky-sweet orange sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp ginger powder
Instructions
- Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
- Prepare your breading station: mix flour and a pinch of salt in one bowl, and place the beaten eggs in another.
- Dip chicken pieces into the eggs, letting the excess drip off, then coat thoroughly with flour.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
- Fry the chicken pieces in batches, cooking until golden brown (4-5 minutes per side). Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- In a saucepan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and ginger powder. Simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Toss the fried chicken with the orange sauce until well-coated and serve.
Notes
For extra crispiness, consider double frying the chicken. You can use cornstarch in the breading for a crispier texture and fresh juice for best flavor.
